About Marcia Wachuta

Welcome to Marcia’s Crafty Sewing and Quilting!

My days are filled with hours of freestyle quilting and creating wonderful designs on customer’s quilts. I love stitching! I want to be stitching on my longarm quilting machine all day long.  Every quilt is a new adventure. It is a joy to watch the quilt tops transform as I quilt them into truly unique quilted quilts.

My Longarm Quilting Machine
Here’s the picture we put with my display in Boscobel WI for the month of March.

I express my passion through my quilting, although sometimes others don’t understand it. When I am stitching and creating projects, I am in control of every movement of the machine as it glides across the fabric and through the blocks, lattice, and borders to transform the quilt top into a beautiful quilted masterpiece.

It is a feeling I cannot describe other than say, I live and breathe quilting 24/7. It is all I can think about all day long.  I even dream about quilting.

I have been quilting full-time since the fall 2003 and to my husband’s and my family’s surprise I am never bored of it. I feel very blessed to have a job that I love.

October 2019 marked 16 years of custom quilting and over 3000 quilted quilts!

This family photo was taken during the summer of 2012 at my daughter’s wedding. My daughter and her husband on the far right. My husband on the left and my son in the middle.  I am sitting in front with my Mom.

Grandmama

In the summer of 2013, I became a “Grandmama”.  As of the summer of 2016, I now have 2 grandchildren  – a boy and a girl!

My husband and I live in Southwestern Wisconsin on top of a hill. We can see for miles and miles. My quilting studio is in the lower level of our home overlooking a bird garden and memory pond. It is a wonderful working environment!

I have a degree in Family and Consumer Education from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Before starting my quilting business in April of 2003, I taught sewing and cooking at the Middle School level. During my summers, I taught a beginning sewing classes for 3rd and 4th graders for 10 years. I love to teach beginning sewing and quilting! It is truly my passion!

I attend quilting retreats in Wisconsin and Iowa a couple weekends during the fall and winter months. We really enjoy getting together and sewing on our quilting projects.

I also belong to the Friendship Quilter’s Guild of Richland Center, Wisconsin. We share our quilting treasures and quilting ideas. So many ideas – not enough time in the day to do it all!
